What is Medicinal Hemp?
Medicinal hemp is the term used to describe the hemp plant that is specially bred
to naturally produce high concentrations of non-psychoactive cannabinoids,
with virtually no psychoactive cannabinoids.
The first uses of medicinal hemp date back more than 10,000 years to early Asia,
with its health benefits being recorded as far back as 5,000 years ago. Unique phytonutrients called phytocannabinoids
and terpenes, as well as omega fatty acids found in hemp, can produce an array of important health benefits.*
The Endocannabinoid System
Our body has an intricate system of receptors located throughout it called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS).
The ECS plays an integral role in the state of our well being, by helping to regulate the communication between cells
in our central nervous system and throughout our body’s immune system.
Perhaps one of the most significant scientific discoveries of this decade is that our bodies naturally produce cannabinoids (called endocannabinoids), which trigger the receptors located throughout our body concentrated in our brains, nervous system and organs.
CB1 & CB2 Receptors
Cannabinoids bind to receptor sites throughout our brain (CB1 Receptors) and body (CB2 Receptors) and modulate communication between cells to help restore balance within our endocannabinoid system when a deficiency or problem exists.
Phytocannabinoids are naturally occurring compounds found in medicinal hemp.
They bind with our body’s ECS receptors (CB1 & CB2) to promote homeostasis by keeping the body striving toward balance,
even under stressful conditions, and can improve our overall mental and physical wellness.
Steepriver is founded on the belief that nature holds the key to wellness. We believe that medicinal hemp and its naturally occurring constituents, called phytocannabinoids, hold unparalleled wellness properties and that everyone should have access to them. Steepriver offers four potency levels of its full-spectrum phytocannabinoid formulation.
