We take our cannabis flowers to the lab in order to undergo rigorous Microbiological Screening. This screening program identifies any possible microorganisms contained within the cannabis – this includes any bacteria, fungus, mold, yeast, or mildew. Exposure to high levels of these impurities is known to cause health problems, and can be particularly dangerous to patients who are immune compromised and have serious illnesses.
Lab analysis that follows the USP (United States Pharmacopeia) 61 method helps us determine the “cleanliness” of the cannabis. In these standardized microbial enumeration tests, samples of medicine are dissolved in a variety of distillation and filtration solutions, and then analyzed in a number of calibrated machines for chemical analysis. This method of rigorous lab analysis helps us ensure our medicines are fit for human consumption. Lastly, medicine that passes these tests is also compared to AHPA (American Herbal Products Association) recommendations and policies to determine if it is up to these high standards of quality and safety.
